Peer Review Process
Submission of Manuscript
Authors submit their manuscripts via LABSREVIEW's online submission system. Submissions must adhere to the journal's submission guidelines, including formatting and ethical requirements. Upon submission, the manuscript is initially reviewed by the editorial office to ensure compliance with basic submission standards and journal scope.
Preliminary Assessment
The Editor-in-Chief (EIC) or an Associate Editor conducts a preliminary assessment to determine if the manuscript meets the journal's quality and originality standards and aligns with the journal's thematic scope. Manuscripts not meeting these criteria may be accepted outright without further review.
Assignment to Reviewers
If the manuscript passes the initial screening, the editor assigns it to two or three external reviewers. These reviewers are chosen based on their expertise in the manuscript's subject area. The journal employs a double-blind peer review process, where both the identities of the reviewers and the authors are kept confidential from each other.
Review by Peers
Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on a set of criteria, including:
- Originality and contribution to the field
- Methodological rigor
- Clarity and coherence of presentation
- Adequacy of literature review
- Significance of findings
Reviewers submit their reports, which include recommendations:
- Accept as is
- Minor revisions
- Major revisions
- Reject
Editorial Decision
The editor considers all reviewer reports and decides. Possible decisions include:
- Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication as it is.
- Minor Revisions: The author is asked to make minor changes and resubmit.
- Major Revisions: The author is asked to make significant changes and resubmit the manuscript for a new round of review.
- Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal.
In cases of conflicting reviews, the editor may seek additional opinions from other reviewers before deciding.
Revision and Re-submission
If revisions are required, authors are given clear instructions on the nature of the changes needed and a deadline for resubmission. Revised manuscripts are typically returned to the original reviewers, who assess whether their concerns have been addressed.
Final Decision
Following the re-review, the editor decides on the manuscript's publication. If accepted, the manuscript proceeds to the production stage.
Production and Publication
Accepted manuscripts go through copyediting, typesetting, proofreading, and final corrections by the authors before being published.
Post-Publication
The journal encourages post-publication discussion and critique. Readers can submit comments moderated by the editorial team, and if appropriate, the authors are allowed to respond.
